Sullistine was known for being a gifted seamstress, along with her gift of knitting and crocheting. She also dedicated her time to helping young girls as a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She retired from Memphis City Schools Food Services. One of her most courageous accomplishments was serving as a plaintiff in a voting rights lawsuit, alleging that Tennessee Voter ID law was intended to prevent seniors from exercising their constitutional right to vote. She was the voice for people who did not have a voice or have the courage to speak out.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Tina Renee’ Bell-Bass (Ronald); five granddaughters, Rachel R. Brown, Lindsey D. Bass, Christy D. Bass, Alexis R. Bass and Destine L. Bell; two grandsons, Ronald G. Bass Jr. and Javontay C. Bell; and one great-grandson, Jermey M. Brown Jr.; her sisters, Barbara J. Tyson, Shirley A. Snow (Rev. Dr. Tommie Snow, Sr.), Jennette Tyson; and a sister-in-law, Ella Tyson; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other family. Brothers who preceded her in death are Van Robert Tyson Jr. and Charles Morris Sr.
