Obituary for James Alfred Mealer
James Alfred Mealer Jr. passed away Sunday May 21, 2017 after a lengthy illness. He was born August 4, 1950 in Lewisburg TN to the late James Sr and M. Evelyn Elmore Mealer. On June 23 1988, he was united in marriage to Donna Peirce.
Jim served in The United States Army for 20 years, retiring in 1991. He served his country while stationed in Germany, Michigan, Texas, Korea and Operation Desert Storm. After retiring, he moved to Memphis and worked in the Towing industry for his Uncle at Newt’s/Berclair/Summer Ave Towing and also Bartlett Towing. He loved to drag race, fish, old westerns and baseball.
He is survived by his wife Donna, children Nicole Travis of Bartlett, Andreas Frank (Heather) of El Paso TX, Chris Mealer (Kelli) of Cordova, Jacob Mealer, Dana Mealer and Michael Mealer all of Memphis, Eleven grandchildren Alexandra Kassela (Chris), Shelby Mount, Seth Travis, Andreas Frank, Jacqueline Frank, Nikolaus Frank, Monique Cordova, Madelyn Raymond, Anthony Frank, Peter Frank, and Jamison Mealer, and 2 great grandchildren. Sisters Wanda Hargrove, Brenda Daughrity (Gary) of Chapel Hill, Linda Whitehurst (Jerry) of Brentwood and brother Ricky Mealer (Terressa) of Chapel Hill.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a great grandson and brother in law Billy Hargrove.
