Obituary for Arthur Louis Martin
Arthur Louis Martin, 80, died March 8, 2020.
Mr. Arthur Louis Martin was born in Memphis, Tennessee on October 11, 1939 to Benjamin and Rosie Jones Martin. He was the youngest of four siblings.
As a boy, Arthur was quiet but was also a bit of a prankster. He liked the outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing and was a fierce defender of his family especially his sister Bobbie.
Arthur completed all his formal education in Memphis, TN and shortly after finishing high school, he completed training as an electrician. Arthur then moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1959 and just a few short years later, he married Edith “Cookie” Martin and together, they had 2 handsome sons.
Later, Arthur also had another precious daughter that he cherished.
Arthur had an enduring love of music and of people. He was a true “people person” and loved a good conversation. He seemed to have a natural knack for fixing things like cars and electronics as well as repairs around the house. He was also an avid bid wiz player. Everyone knew that Arthur was a sharp dresser and loved to be “clean.” And in his later years, his side part in his hair was always perfect.
Although Arthur retired from ADT, that didn’t stop him from being known as the person to call for all of your electrical needs. In fact, from his hospital bed, he was still telling people that he had a job to go do!
Arthur was called home March 8, 2020 in Memphis, TN. His parents and 2 siblings, Inez Martin and Benjamin Martin, Jr, preceded him in death.
Arthur Leaves to cherish his memory three children: Michael (Darlene) Martin of Inglewood, Ca., Darryl Martin of Memphis, Tn. and Iesha Caraway of Houston, Tx., sibling Barbara (Luther) Stewart of Palmdale, CA, 6 grandchildren (Christina, Tiffany, Ryann, Alonso, Ilyeaha and Kaylun), 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends that loved him.
