Calvin Isom Jr., affectionally known as ‘PeeWee’, was born in Memphis, Tennessee on August 24, 1956. He was the first child born to Calvin Isom Sr. and Freddie Stone Isom. PeeWee confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Beulah Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. W.C. Holmes. He later moved his membership to Magnolia First Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. W.H. Bass.
PeeWee was a faithful member and knew the power of prayer. He realized that even during his storm God still had his loving hands wrapped all around him. ‘For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens’ – 2 Corinthians 5:1
PeeWee was a product of Hamilton High School and Castalia Heights. He played community sports with Wills Barbecue and Southern Warehouse as a Softball Player. Also, he had a passion for little league football where he coached Midget football with the Whitehaven Cowboys. His coaching led the Midgets to Championship in 1993. He was previously employed by Kroger’s and Wang’s International where he was a part of the basketball team.
PeeWee was a charismatic, energetic, sociable and caring guy. He was always smiling and joking with everyone. He never met a stranger whether it was at the grocery store, church, or walking down the street, always had a kind word. Daddy had a nickname for him ‘A Walking Pimp’. He loved complimenting and socializing with the ladies.
He was blessed and so are we……….
On the night of June 26, 2018, God called PeeWee home to be with Him. God knew what was best for his servant.
PeeWee is preceded in death by his father, Calvin ‘Connie’ Isom Sr, one sister, Barbara Stone and one brother, Jerry Stone and maternal grandparents, Walter and Percie Stone; Ed and Lucille Glenn.
