Calvin was born December 1, 1941 to the late James A. Thomas and Elnora Crenshaw Jackson in Millington, Tennessee. He was the second child of ten children. Calvin Thomas departed this life Monday, October 19, 2015 at Methodist North Hospital.
Calvin professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined Noah’s Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, under the leadership of Reverend I. A. Walker. Calvin united in Hole Matrimony with Elsie Fox in 1969.
Calvin attended Noah’s Chapel Elementary and Barrett’s Chapel Schools. He was employed at Crown Zelaback/Cleo Wrap for twenty-five years and as a Certified Mechanic for forty years.
Calvin leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Cynthia and Natalie; five sons, Tommy (Angela); Clonte’ (Brenda); Calvin K. (Starletha); Kenneth (Luella); Calvin T.; three sisters, Jean A. Prewitt (Leonard); Charles Etta Gray (Rummie); Ellander A. Jones (Ervin); six brothers, Lombus (Delois); George E. Thomas (Renee); Everett Mitchell Jr., (Jeanette); Henry E. Jackson, Jr.; Markel Jackson (Dale); William C. Jackson (Claudette); twenty-four grandchildren ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015, and Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2015 all at Serenity Funeral Home, 1638 Sycamore View Road. Burial in Northridge Woodhaven Cemetery, 6755 US Hwy. 51, Millington, TN 38053.
