Eddie Lankston Douglas was born on August 24, 1948 in Mason, TN to the late Paul Isaiah Douglas and Augusta Mason Douglas. On Wednesday, August 15, 2018 Eddie Douglas completed his journey here on earth at Saint Francis Hospital in Bartlett, TN.
On December 31, 1974 Eddie was united in matrimony to the love of his life, his devoted wife, Eva Lewis-Douglas. His marriage remained strong until his transition. He was a dedicated family man, husband, father, son and brother.
At an early age, Eddie accepted Christ and joined Poplar Springs MBC Church. He was a faithful member who completed a host of tasks. He served as a dedicated Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Carpenter, & many other capacities in the church until his departure.
Eddie was an upstanding, honorable man in the community. He was a man of love. In turn, he was loved and respected by his family and friends. He was a soft spoken, humble and hardworking man. All that knew him will remember his infectious smile that would brighten up any room.
Eddie worked for Walgreen Corp until their relocation in the late 1970’s. At this point of his career, he became an entrepreneur and started E & D Construction. He had a special, God gifted talented. At age 24 he built his first house for his mother, who resides there today at the age of 95. He built his own home, as well as other homes in the community and surrounding areas. Eddie was one of the few African American Contractors in Fayette County. He also enjoyed farming as a hobby.
Eddie was the backbone for his surviving mother, Augusta Douglas and a dedicated brother to his surviving siblings Pauline Crutcher, Beatrice Boyland, Ruby Thomas (Danny), Callie Douglas, Paul Douglas (Charlene), Shirley Green (Linton-LL). His father Paul Isaiah Douglas preceded him in death in 1970.
He will leave to continue the celebration of his life: his loving children, Lekisha Douglas, Carla Jones (Gabriel), Ednita Duncan (Kwesi), Catora Douglas; grandchildren: Quadarius Jones, Grabiel Jones Jr., Keon Douglas, Edward Douglas, Antonia Douglas, Aniyah Pulliam, and Noah Duncan who’s expected to arrive this fall. Eddie also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws & friends that loved him dearly.
