Obituaries
H. D. Dabney was the 4th child born to Nathaniel and Mary Etta Dabney. He was born July 31, 1938 in rural Hernando MS. As a young child he loved the outdoors. He decorate the yard with flowers and spent much time hunting and fishing. Yearly he had his mother order vegetables and flower seeds from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. After making his flower bed, he went throughout the community selling the vegetable and flower seeds. As an adult, he continued the love of taking care of his yard and growing a vegetable garden.
As a teenager he moved to Memphis, TN and began working at Memphis Furniture Factory until it closed. He then went to work for Floied Fire Extinguisher where he enjoyed traveling throughout the Mid-South area servicing Kitchens and Chimneys.
At an early age he professed a hope in Christ at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Hernando, MS. He loved to sing. One of his favorite songs was, “When the Lord Gets Ready You’ve Got to Move”. Later in life he joined the Praises of Joy Ministries in Memphis.
He was proceeded in death by his mother and father, a daughter, Carrier Mae Swan, a granddaughter, a sister, Lula Corine Moss and a brother Adolphas Dabney.
He leaves to cherish his memories a daughter, Jackie Wright, a son, Jeffery Wright, two sisters, Magnolia Suggs and Ether Boyd, a brother William Edward Dabney, 4 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
