Irene Cooke, 71, died October 17, 2018.
Irene Matthews-Cooke was born March 24, 1947 to the late Mack Matthews, Sr. & Willie Mae Greer-Matthews in Collierville, TN. Irene professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined Glover’s Grove M.B. Church.
Irene (Rene) loved to cook and she attended culinary school in Tacoma Washington. After completion she was hired as a cook for Desoto County Schools.
Rene loved life! She enjoyed spending time with her family and had a laugh that would lighten up any situation.
On Wednesday, October 17, 2018, Irene left her earthly home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Irene was the 3rd of 10 siblings. Irene is preceded in death by her daughter Doris Jean, her parents Mack Matthews, Sr. & Willie Mae Matthews, two brothers, Mack Matthews, Jr., and Charles Matthews, and two Sisters, Roylette Matthews-Culpepper and Rosie Matthews-Rhodes.
Irene leaves five brothers to cherish her memories: General McArthur Matthews, Sammie (Shirnon) Matthews, Joe Nathan Matthews, Milton Matthews, and Willie James Matthews. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
