Obituaries
James Curtis Cruse, affectionately known as JC, was born March 27th, 1958 in Pueblo, Colorado. James was called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, December 4th, 2019, at the Memphis Veterans Administration Hospital, surrounded by family and friends at his side.
After graduating high school, James Cruse joined the United States Marine Corps at eighteen years of age in Kansas City Missouri. JC served honorably until his retirement in 2006 with a twenty-year honorable discharge. The honor and pride he gained while being a Marine, helped lead him to a life of distinction. He then spent several years trying to maintain a healthy life. His civilian work included working for the Technology Deployment Center for Home Depot Corporate and Global Imports BMW before returning to Memphis. As he faced several health challenges, James gave his life to Christ and lived as a born again Christian. James loved the word of God and used social media to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ through his daily inspirational messages, encouraging the masses who faced daily challenges of everyday life. He took his Christianity to heart as he was a faithful servant. He never met a stranger that he didn’t take pride in uplifting in whatever way he could. Each day, he received numerous requests for prayer and encouragement. He started a blog called, A Translucent Walk, which talked about his life as a transplant recipient in hopes to encourage those on the same journey. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and the warmth and comfort of his dogs Skippy, and Davis.
In 2013, James wrote his first book, Either Way I Win(EWIW). He believed whether God healed him here on earth or called him home to be with him in Heaven, he would win. On December 4th, 2019 James received his new transplant and graciously accepted his healing as he went on to be with the Lord.
James was preceded in death by his mother Patricia Cruse, and his late sister Elena Cruse. He leaves behind to cherish his memories and continue his legacy set forth his Son Jarrod (Yolanda) Washington of Washington; three daughters Charmaine Cruse of Richmond, VA, Porscha Boyd of Chicago, IL, and Desiree Cruse of Memphis, TN; two sisters Cynthia Cruse of Memphis, TN and Denise Cruse of Norfolk, VA; His fiancé Julie Graves of Memphis, TN; God sister Yavonne Spencer, Godbrothers Tony Broome and Edwin Alston; two grandchildren(Yolanda &Jarrod Washington); two nieces Tanika Sykes of Virginia, Tiera Davis (US Army Sergeant, GA); three nephews Douglas Toone of Virginia; Carlos Russell of Maryland and Clifford Briggs Jr of Oregon; and a host of close loving friends and family.
