James Curtis Mays, 74, died April 22, 2020.
James Curtis Mays was born February 1, 1946 to the late Johnnie and Eunice Mays. He was the 14th of 15 children. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Hearn Grove Baptist Church in Byhalia Mississippi. Ten siblings preceded him in death. He was united in matrimony to Catherine Mays and was married 52 years. To this union was born two sons.
He was a faithful member of True Light Baptist Church, where he served as an Elder and male chorus member. He worked for Memphis Light, Gas, and Water for 28 and a half years and for the Davis YMCA for 15 years.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife Catherine Mays; (2) sons Reginald E. Mays (Debra), Corey M. Mays (Lakesha); (5) grandchildren, James C. Mays II, Tamara Mays, Corey M. Mays Jr. ( Brieonna), Camiyah Mays, Keyaira Shumpert; (3) sisters Bernice Riley
(McArthur), Catherine Culp (Theodore) , Ardentria Richmond (Joseph) and (1) brother Henry Mays (Mattie); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loving friends.
