Obituary for Jerlean Green
Jerlean Green, 83, died December 14, 2016.
Jerlean Green was born February 5, 1933 in Rossville, Tennessee to the union of the late Willie Mae and Odie Lee Green; she was their third child and only daughter. She quietly and peacefully departed this life at the home her of daughter and son-in-law, Lenetta and Samuel Johnson in Olive Branch, Mississippi on December 14, 2016.
She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Rossville, Tennessee. Jerlean attended Fayette County High School, where she took great pride in getting an education and graduated with honors in 1951. Seeking greater opportunities, she soon followed her big brother, James Odie Green, to St. Louis, Missouri, where she lived and worked all of her adult life, retiring from Anheuser-Busch in 1994. In 2009 she moved to Nashville, Tennessee to live with her only daughter. After her daughter’s retirement in 2015 the family moved to Olive Branch.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a loving daughter, Lenetta Green Johnson (Samuel), three grandchildren, Aziza Dodson (Carthon), Takiyah Johnson, and Christian Johnson, two great-grandchildren Kiari and Kimani Johnson, her older brother James Odie Green (Jane), and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one brother Jessie Earl “Bobo” Green.
She will be sorely missed by her god sister and best friend, Hazel Markham, and her god daughters Michelle and Makeda Markham of St. Louis, Missouri.
