Obituary for John W. Strange, Sr.
John W. Strange, Sr., 86, died November 5, 2020.
God saw the road was getting rough,
The hills were hard to climb,
He gently closed those loving eyes
And whispered, “Peace Be Thine”.
The weary hours, the days of pain,
The sleepless nights are past;
The ever patient worn out frame,
Has found sweet rest at last.
John Wesley Strange, Sr, was born June 20, 1934 in Nashville TN to the late Elzie Strange & Lucille North-Strange. He transitioned to the Kingdom on Thursday, November 5th, 2020. He was preceded in death by his sister Elzie Williams. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age & has been a member of the CME Church since 1957 & is a longtime member of Greenwood CME Church.
He graduated from Pearl High in Nashville TN & attended Tennessee State University. In 1965, he moved his family to Memphis TN & began a career with John Deere & Company where he worked for 31 years & retired. He had a passion for working on cars & tractors & could take them apart & put them back together.
John W. Strange, Sr. was the proud father of three loving children.
He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife of “64 years”, Sylvia Carter Strange & his devoted children: Deborah(Tim) S. McBride, Susan Strange-McClora(Chester) & John Wesley Strange, Jr.(Nick), two nieces (Dianne & Janice) & one nephew (Tony) & a host of relatives & friends.
