Obituaries

One of 11 children, Johnnie was the daughter of John Tasca and Maggie Bookout Moore of Atlanta. She was a graduate of Fulton High School, 1936, where she was voted Most Popular Girl. A master of numbers throughout her career, she worked as a bookkeeper and accountant for several major corporations including Parks Belk. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 52 years, retired Colonel Grover C. Driver, Jr., originally of Luxora, Arkansas. GC and Johnnie made their home in Memphis where they were both active members of Balmoral Baptist Church. Johnnie served as treasurer of the Baptist Women’s Union.
She was the beloved mother of Grover “Dusty” Driver, III (Sue), Cumming, GA, Sandra “Sandy” Webster (John), Springfield, VA, and John Driver, Collierville, TN, in whose home she lived during her last years.
She is survived by 4 grandchildren, Anna Johnson, Susie Claborn, Cleve Driver, and Elizabeth Webster. She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren, Bailey and Brady Johnson, Palmer Claborn, and John Moose. She leaves behind 2 sisters, Edith Burdett, Gainesville, GA, and Betty McMillin, Kingsport, TN, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Balmoral Baptist Church, 2676 Kirby Rd., 12:00 noon Friday, September 30, followed by interment at the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
