Obituary for Larry J. Parnell
Larry J. Parnell, 66, died November 26, 2020.

On Thursday, November 26,2020, the spirit of Larry James Parnell returned to God who blessed him with 66 years of life. He passed peacefully after struggling with many health issues.

Larry was the second child born to Roy Parnell Sr. and Mary Pearl Brown on August 17, 1954 in Memphis, Tn. (Both preceded him in death). As a child and young adult, Larry was determined to become his own uniquely, outgoing, talkative and loving self. He followed his father’s footsteps by being an entrepreneur most of his life. Whereas, he later embarked on several other skilled jobs the remaining of his working years.

Larry had Four brothers, Roy Parnell Jr., Robert Brown (preceded him in death). Michael Porter and Ronnie Parnell Sr., all of Memphis, Tn. One sister, Darlene Parnell of Memphis, TN.

Larry was a member of Vollintine Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir.
Larry was a graduate of Northside High School graduating class of 1973. He received a scholarship to attend Tennessee State University for Culinary Arts. Although he loved his craft, he only attended one semester. Those of you who had the opportunity to sit with him, knew he loved talking about his food, cars, women and collection of certain metals.
Larry was very generous, loving and sharing of what little possessions he was blessed with. This kindhearted human being faced many devastating life changing events. Many that would have caused the strongest of us to give up. Struggling to hold on, he did it. Had it not been for his fortitude, those of us who loved and cared for him would not have had the opportunity to spend the time we had with him.

Larry never married or had any children of his own. However, he was able to spend precious quality family time three very special niece and nephews. Vynton Parnell, Taylor and Jordan Bradshaw. Holiday’s had meaning again for him as he often stated later.

Larry leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, family, friends and two very special uncles. J.B. Parnell of Clarksdale Ms. And Charles Parnell of AZ. Larry had an extended family through his brother, Ronnie and sister, Darlene. The Lang family, they adopted him in and remain close as family until God called his sprit home.
