Obituary for Michael "Jeep" Blackmon
Michael "Jeep" Blackmon, 44, died February 20, 2017.

The Life and Legacy of Mr. Michael “Jeep” Blackmon

~ A life displaying the attributes of love, triumph, and the courageous strength of a man who will be deeply missed. ~

It is with saddened hearts and bittersweet joy that we celebrate the arms of Father God accepting one of his beloved children home to rest in paradise.

Born on February 13, 1973 in Memphis Tennessee, being the first child of his overjoyed mother, Ms. Shirley Blackmon, Mr. Michael Blackmon was considered to be a humorous, dimpled smile child with great promise and passion.

Michael affectionately known to many as “Jeep” or “Mike” was raised in a Christian-based home, allowing him to accept Christ as his savior at a young age.  He would often attend regular Sunday services at his cousin, Z.P. Blackmon’s church, and later worshipped at Friendship Church of the Nazarene.

Known as a talented athlete in football, he played at Treadwell High School where he graduated in 1993.  He furthered his education and received a degree in Heating and Air Conditioning at William R. Moore College of Technology.  Having a passion of being a people’s person and loving to help people he became a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant where he enjoyed serving at Graceland Rehabilitation & Nursing Care Center and Grace Healthcare of Cordova.  Michael didn’t limit himself to one career choice.  He had a zeal for cars which allowed him to become a prolific salesman at Gossett Motor Cars on Covington Pike in Memphis, Tennessee.

In his spare time he would host grand parties enjoying life with family and friends.  If you ever attended any of those parties one would not be surprised to know that he would be the awesome DJ (Disc Jockey) on the 1’s and 2’s.  He was also a lover of fashion and would love to often flaunt fine threads.

Michael’s heart was flooded with joy when he met and fell in love with his wife, having ten years of matrimony, Yolanda.  Together they share six children and two grandchildren.

Memories of Michael will eternally be treasured by his wife, Yolanda Blackmon; his son, Deangelo Blackmon; his daughters, Alexis Blackmon and Gabriella Landers; his bonus sons, Terence Jones, Xzaviar Taylor and Deandre Freeman; his two bonus grandchildren; his mother, Shirley Blackmon; his mother-in-law, Helen Payne Hill; his father-in-law, Ray G. Taylor; his sisters, Shemekia Blackmon and Victoria Warren; his brother, Thurman Blackmon (Camela) all of Memphis, Tennessee; his uncles, Albert Blackmon and Bobby Blackmon of Sacramento, CA; his aunts, Gwendolyn Blackmon of Sacramento, CA and Patricia Reed (Terry) of Memphis, TN. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Dennis Blackmon. Michael also shared his life with many nieces, nephews, cousins, family, friends and counterparts who will cherish his memories.
