Obituaries

Milton Todd Jr. was the third child of Milton Todd Sr. and Vivian Geneva Todd born on January 22, 1960 in Memphis, Tennessee. He made a peaceful transition on Friday, November 29, 2019.
Milton was a 1977 graduate of Westwood High School in Memphis, TN. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Tennessee State University, Nashville, TN in 1984. While attending Tennessee State University, Milton pledged Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. He served as chapter president for two terms. Milton believed and would always say “If Alpha Phi Alpha was good enough for outstanding black men like Thurgood Marshall and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., then it’s good enough for me.” Around campus Milton was well known for his vast vocabulary and his mastery of the English language. He would quickly point out those who “butchered” it.
Milton began his professional career as an aid on the staff of Congressman Harold Ford Sr. Milton thrived in this role due to his respect for his fraternity brother and love of the political process. Milton worked briefly as a counselor for a recidivism program before joining United Way of the Midsouth. Some of Milton’s fondest memories came from the 30 years spent at United Way where he was Senior Director. He was very proud of the millions of dollars he helped to bring into the organization and the lives that were impacted with help from United Way.
In the Spring 1998 issue of GRACE Magazine, Milton was recognized as a Man on the Move in Memphis (1 of 10). He was also a member of the 1999 Class of Leadership Memphis.
Milton was an avid golfer and loved his Green Bay Packers.
Milton was the patriarch of his family for over 30 years. He leaves to cherish his memory three sisters, Shari Lynn Loggins (Vernell), Sara Lisa Hill (Mark) and Sheila Todd, and his brother, Michael Earl Todd. He was greatly admired by his nieces and nephews, Nikita, Kimberly (Thomas), Christopher (Crystal), Brandon, Justin, Jared, Mycah, Kishawn (Amber) and Jordyn. Milton’s great nieces and nephews, Jaylon, Yama, Isaiah, Marley, Bailey and August, loved him dearly. Milton will be greatly missed by his five aunts, Louise, Rose, Harriet, Jean and Betty, as well as a host of cousins. Milton also leaves to cherish his memory his devoted girlfriend Marlon (Tammy) Lee, his “other sister” Faye Carter and his beloved pet, “The Mighty” THOR.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Shanita Todd Tucker.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations in memory of Milton Todd, Jr. are made to Lowenstein House Memphis and/or Knowledge Quest Memphis.
