Obituary for Nancy Wainwright
Nancy Wainwright, 78, died November 29, 2016.
Ms. Nancy Wainwright was born April 19, 1938 in Somerville, Tennessee. At an early age, Nancy professed her faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at Pulliam Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville, Tennessee. She was educated in Fayette County Jefferson School. Moving to Memphis in 1956, she later joined Bethlehem Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Q. C. Billops, and later under Rev. O. C. Collins Jr., where she served faithfully until her health began to fail.
Nancy loved to sing in the church choir and cook Sunday dinners for family and friends. She worked for over 20 years at Memphis Furniture and 17 years at St. Joseph Hospital. She received numerous awards for her outstanding service.
On November 28, 2016, Nancy whispered goodbye. She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Patricia (Tree) Wainwright and Mary Wainwright; two grandsons, Montrell Wainwright and Quinton Wainwright; four great grandchildren, Montavia, Montrell Jr., Aubrey and Quinton Jr.; one sister, Mattie Bush; one brother-in-law, John Bush; two nephews, Samuel (Rena) Wainwright, whom she raised and loved as her own, and Mark Wainwright; four nieces, Wanda Harris, Sonja (William) Woods, Pamuela Young and Lisa Swearengen. One aunt, Brenice Johnson Wainwright, mother, Bernice, and brother, Milton preceded her in death.
Nancy also leaves two special cousins that she was raised with, Otis and Barbara Wainwright; and her other “children” that she loved as her own - Rev. Charles Wainwright and JoAnn Ivy. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
