Obituary for Phillip George Jones, Jr.
Phillip George Jones, Jr. , 68, died March 28, 2018.

Phillip “Ricky” G. Jones Jr., was born to the late Phillip Jones, Sr. and the late Georgia Mae Anthony Bowens.

Phillip accepted Christ at the age of seven and was baptized in West Palms, Florida. He served his church for many years there until his family moved back to Memphis, TN.
After graduation from Carver High School, Phillip had the desire and felt the need to serve his country, so he joined the Marines. He proudly served one year in Fort Pillow Kentucky and completed two tours, four years each, in Vietnam. He received two honors and five medals while serving his country. After his second tour, Phillip returned home to Memphis.

While employed at the Don Russ Bubble Gum Factory, Phillip met his future bride, Barbara JoAnne Gordon. They were joined in holy matrimony and were blessed with a step-son, Terrance and two daughters, Katrina and Kimberly. Phillip was a good husband and a great father to his own and others whom he made an impression on. While working at the sugar refinery and Block Drugs on President Island, Phillip be-friended and mentored many young people, who claimed him as their father.

He was a fun, happy and uplifting person even during his illness and while in pain. One late spring evening, March 28, 2018, in the year of our Lord, God’s Angel of Mercy touched his pains, eased his hurts and wiped away his tears. Phillip sensed everything was going to be alright and it was time to let it go., He relaxed, took a deep breath, mounted his wings and flew home to be with Our Lord.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Bowens; sister, Rosemarie (Paul) Gray. He leaves to love , cherish and celebrate his homegoing, two very supportive daughters, Katrina Gordon-Jones and Kimberly Jones-Johnson, three sons, Terrence Gordon, Sr., Reco Jones and Phillip (Tomorrow) Macklin; one brother, Phillip G. Jones, Jr.; two sisters, Pinkie Bowens of Union City, TN and Phyllis (Caeser) McKinley of Cincinnati, Ohio, sixteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, Barbara (James) Fleming, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
