Obituaries
On November 4, 1959 Shirley Marie Jackson was born to the late Autrey Jackson, Sr. and Ivezeen Cowan. Shirley was the 7th child of 8 children to that union. Though she was born premature at 7 months, she thrived very well in her infancy and everyone teased that she was born for good luck.
Shirley was baptized shortly after her only son was born at home. She maintained a spiritual connection with God even after her own traumatic birth and the traumatizing delivery of her son. She served as an usher at a neighborhood church for a short time, but we all know that life happens and sometimes we fall short of even our own expectations. But she always recognized who was the Master of all our lives.
Shirley was a family-centered woman. All the drama and trauma could not keep her from helping her loved ones any way she could. She loved to cook and worked at a restaurant for a short time. She baby sat everybody’s kids and they loved her dearly.
She leaves to mourn her passing her son Carpell Cradler (Yulanda Smith) and grandsons Martavius Jr., Cedric Robertson, Jamal and Cedarius Taylor, Isaiah Smith, and David Ray and a host of great-grands, relatives and friends. Her son, daughter in law, and her nephew Derrick played a very important role in her care and Michael Valentine, her long-time companion was instrumental in providing comfort to Shirley until she passed away. Shirley lived her life her way and now she is where she wants to be. No pain, no sorrow, no trauma, no drama.
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
