July 24, 1924 - August 20, 2022 born in Nesbit, MS to TexAnna and Samuel Tate and was the youngest of 11 siblings. Her parents and all siblings preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Memphis, TN and earned her Higher Education Degree from Rust College, Holly Springs, MS. TexAnna was united in holy matrimony to the late James Hightower; to this union four children (three daughters and one son) were born accordingly: Beverly, Revis (preceded her in death), Wanda, Gloria. Her career expanded over 40 years as an Elementary School teacher in the Desoto County School System. A longtime member of St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, she served as Sunday School Teacher and class secretary. Affectionately known as T.T., she was an Honorary Member of The Sassie Seniors of Memphis. TexAnna loved cooking, spending time with family and friends. Any and everyone was welcomed to her home as she delighted to share meals she had prepared. Her specialty was desserts! Lovingly known as Big Mama, her memories will also be cherished by her eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law and extended family and loved ones.
