Wilberforce Henderson, Jr. was born January 30, 1949, to Wilberforce and Odessa Henderson, Sr. He was the third child and first son born to this union. He attended and graduated from Douglass High School, Class of 1967. He honorably served in the U. S. Army from 1968 to 1970, with a tour of duty in Vietnam, where he received three bronze stars and a V-Device.
He married Robbie Lipford in 1970, and to that union three children were born, Deadrick Henderson, Marlon B. Henderson (who preceded him in death) and Ashley Nicole Henderson-Harper. He also had a son, Patrick Dyson. He was baptized at First Baptist Church Mount Olive, where he served as a member and deacon on the board before joining New Salem Missionary Baptist Church as a member and Armor Bearer for the pastor.
He leaves to mourn two sons, Deadrick Henderson of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Patrick Dyson of Long Beach, California and one daughter Ashley (Marcus) Henderson-Harper of Cordova, TN; three grandchildren, Nicholys, MacKenna, and Ashton; seven sisters, Cleo (Eddie) Merriweather, Barbara (Dary, Sr.) Hayes (both of whom preceded him in death), Wilma (Willie) Martin, Carolyn (Kenneth) Murray, Gloria (Andrew, Sr.) Williams, Pamela Robinson, and Elaine (Roosevelt) Knox; three brothers, Ronnie Henderson, Lloyd Ricky Henderson, Sr., and Mark Henderson, Sr., 19 nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends Clyde Ferby, John Simpson, Johnny Waller, James Benard, and Marvin Greer; along with a host of cousins and friends.
